WELLBEING LESSONS - DAY FOR DANIEL
Friday 31st October marked the recognition of ‘Day for Daniel’. Day for Daniel is a national event dedicated to child safety education and awareness. The theme for this year was ‘how to be safe online’.
During wellbeing lessons we examined the importance of being safe online. We watched a cartoon about a young child who encountered some challenges while playing an online game. We discussed the challenges and what they could have done differently to support online safety.
The key takeaway message for students was that you should NEVER interact with someone online unless you know them in real life. If someone you don’t know is trying to interact with you online you need to:
- TELL a safe adult.
- BLOCK them from your game.
- REPORT their behaviour if it is unsafe or inappropriate to the game, and if serious, to the Police.
