It was great to see everyone back at school on Monday and we hope you all had a wonderful break.  We have a lot of things happening this term so please check the school calendar and the dates to remember section of the newsletter regularly as dates do get altered, changed and updated.

Next week each child will be sent home with a calendar of dates for your fridge.  This has all major dates included as they stand at present.  Along with this calendar the children will receive lunch order envelopes for the remainder of the year.

Thursday 7^th November is our next Outdoor Classroom Day.  We are all busy preparing for a great day of learning outside (and hoping the weather is as brilliant as it has been this week.)

For the morning we are putting our Kinder and Prep students together to get to know one another, our Ones and Twos will work together, our Threes and Fours will work together, our  Fives will work with Mrs Young for the morning and our Grade Six will work on a special end of year leaving project.

It would be lovely to have families come and join in and share the experiences with their children.  The coffee van will be on site as usual.

We would like to thank Mr Rogers and the Lindisfarne Junior Football Club for donating their used AFL balls which are still in great condition for us to use for our next AFL PE unit and recess/lunch activities!

Thank you so much Mr Rogers and your club. We will appreciate these for years to come.

The day started with a light breeze and ice under our feet as we waited for the sun to rise above Mount Faulkner. If you listened carefully you could hear the sounds of nearby sheep in fields and birds rustling in the trees. Staff and students began arriving at school. Today was no ordinary day at Molesworth Primary. As the clock drew closer to 10:45 am there was a change in the atmosphere, something huge was about to happen. When the clock struck 11:00 am, the moment we had all been waiting for, it was time to… LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

All our students from near and far came together earlier today to compete as Team Greece, Team Australia, and Team France at Molesworth Primary’s second ever Mini Olympics! All teams participated in rhythmic gymnastics, numbers soccer, and low vision/blind tennis and modified tennis games. Each student who participated in the day received our Mini Olympics 2024 ribbon.

Our Mini Olympics games focused on 4 key values as well as the Olympic Spirit; participation, team support, doing your best and having fun. It was joyous to see the teams coming together, competing, showing encouragement and teamwork! Well done to our Grade 3/4 class for their amazing mime performance during our closing ceremony. Thank you to our speakers during the opening and closing ceremonies.

We would like to pass on many thanks to Anthony Edwards for travelling out to Molesworth and sharing his thoughts and experiences on having a go! Thank you to Mrs Smith and our Sport Leaders for their speeches during our Opening and Closing ceremonies.

We also wish to say thank you to our school community who came along to support and cheer on our teams!

On the second last day of Term 3 our Sport Leaders organised a Sports Colour / Favourite Colour Day. We had an amazing array of sports colours and favourite colours! We would like to say a huge thank you to all that participated and donated a gold coin on the day.

The money we raised will go towards new recess and lunch time sports equipment. Keep an eye out in the playground!

This term, on Friday 15^th November, we will be hosting our first ever Jump Rope for Heart Day fundraiser.

Last term we were one of the lucky schools to have a visit from the Waimea Wonders Jump Rope Team from Waimea Heights Primary School to spark some skipping inspiration. Since their visit, we have dabbled in some skipping activities and challenges in PE, which we will continue this term, adding in some more intermediate and advanced challenges for those ready.

In our Molesworth Got Talent, it was amazing to see some of our students demonstrate their skipping skills! Keep an eye out in the next newsletter for an update with further information about this day by our Sport Leaders.

On Monday 21^st October and Tuesday 29^th October we have Shane from the Bicycle Network Program back visiting Molesworth! Shane runs such an amazing program for our students and we are so excited for him to be back with us this term.

I have spoken to each class during PE times this week to remind them that if they have a bicycle (no motorbikes) and/or a bicycle helmet, they are more than welcome to bring these to school to use during the program. We can store these in the hall until the program dates and until they are able to be picked up.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow students to bring bicycles onto the school buses. Shane brings a whole van full of bikes and helmets, so if your child doesn’t have or isn’t able to have a bicycle at school it is fine, we will have everything here at school.
