Thank you very much to all the families who were able to visit during out open morning last Thursday. As I visited classrooms and the Library it was so lovely to see the smiles in the children’s faces and they were reading and writing with their family. Next time you are at school check our display on our outdoor display board.
If you'd like some tips on reading at home with your children click this link Let's Talk.
SCHOOL BUS SERVICES - STANDARD OF STUDENT BEHAVIOUR
We have had a few calls from concerned parents and onlookers about the behaviour of some students while they are waiting for the school bus. Please ensure your child is aware of the risks and consequences of unruly behaviour while at the bus stop. Click the link below to access the Passenger Code for School Bus Services document that is available on the Department of State Growth website.

DAY FOR DANIEL - FRIDAY 25TH OCTOBER, 2024
Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest national child safety education and awareness day. The aims of the Foundation are to educate children and young people about how to stay safe in physical and online environments and to support young victims of crime. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in honour of Daniel Morcombe to make Australia a safer place for children.
If you or your family would like to access the Daniel Morcombe Foundation resources, here is a link directly to their website where they have many amazing resources for keeping our children safe: https://danielmorcombe.com.au/
Last Tuesday, 20th August, 15 of our students represented Molesworth at the SPSSA 2024 Winter Carnival. We had students attend AFL, AFLW, netball and soccer.
I would like to thank our wonderful parents and carers who were able to transport their children and other students on the day!
I also received feedback from another school thanking Bernadette, Riley’s Mum, who coached the soccer team without notice so that the team could play on the day. Thank you Bernadette! Your knowledge and expertise in soccer coaching would have been invaluable to our students’ team.
Congratulations to Seth, Braiden, Ashley, Haley, Amber, Breeah, Violet, Kelsey, Lachlan, Riley, Darcy, Alex, Adam, Charlotte and Oaklahn. Fantastic achievement by all of you.
Below are some insights from each of the different sports:
AFLW – Amber
We travelled to the Geilston Bay Football Ovals. There were 6 teams and I was in the Robbins with Violet and Haley. Each team played 3 games. By the end of the day I nearly knew everyone! It was challenging when our team was losing but we tried harder! I would recommend putting your name forward to be nominated next year.
AFL – Seth
We played at Cadbury’s Oval. I was in the Derwent Saints, I knew some of the other kids because they are from New Norfolk. I used to play with them when I played for the New Norfolk Eagles. We played 3 games. It was cold but fun!
Soccer – Lachlan
Soccer played at Wentworth Park in Howrah. I was in the Derwent Storm team. We played a total of 6 games, it was too wet to play finals! Overall it was a stressful day - all the other teams had played together for a long time, our team only had 1 training session, but on the day we did come together. I got a bruised finger. It was challenging!
Netball – Oaklahn and Charlotte
Netball was played inside at the Creek Road Netball Centre. We played a total of 5 games. It was interesting! Our team found it challenging to work together, no one had played together as a team before, only some players played club netball. We were in team Yellow Warblers!
NATIONAL HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION DAY 2024
Health & Physical Education (HPE) Day is a nationwide initiative that highlights the importance of HPE and its influence on the learning and development of children. Research shows that children’s participation in physical activity leads to better student engagement, improved academic achievement, encourages lifelong participation and better health outcomes in adult life! Whether you’re a parent, caregiver or teacher - everyone has a role to play in helping young people take a step towards leading healthier and happier lives!
This year National HPE Day is on Wednesday 4th September. Our students will be celebrating this day by engaging in outdoor HPE activities. The activities will be run by Miss Gourlay and our Sport Leaders, Ashley and Oaklahn. We have planned for each class some fun different activities!
2024 SCHOOL SATISFACTION SURVEY
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts School Satisfaction Surveys to find out what your chid(ren)’s school does well and where it may improve. We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Molesworth Primary School and the link is provided in the PDF below. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning decision-making.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART SKIPPING DEMONSTRATION
On Friday 23rd August, we were one of 4 lucky schools who had a visit from the Waimea Wonders Jump Rope Team from Waimea Heights Primary School! The demonstration went for only 20 minutes, but for the whole 20 minutes we were absolutely mesmerised. The team is made up of Year 4-6 students who have been practising for many years, in their recess and lunch time breaks. This group perform at other schools and events to raise awareness and funds for ground-breaking research that helps to fight heart disease. Check in with your child/children to ask what different skipping skills they saw during the performance!
As a school, we have signed up for Jump Rope for Heart, keep an eye out for more information this term.
