It certainly has been a chilly week and with Winter Solstice on Friday we are looking forward to the days starting to slowly get longer.
Thank you to all parents/carers who have made time to meet with their child’s teacher to discuss their learning so far this year and the planning for future learning. Shared information is always of great benefit to your child’s time at school. If you have not yet made a time for a conversation there are still time slots tonight and tomorrow afternoon in most classes. If you are not able to attend this week (or next in Kinder) please send a message to your child’s teacher through Seesaw and they can organise a time for a phone conversation if that suits.
CHANGES THIS TERM
This Friday Mr Hay begins parental leave and will be a stay at home dad from Friday until the beginning of Term 4. Enjoy the time David. During this time Mrs Binning will be increasing her days on the class and during Term 3 Mrs Gilbert will be sharing the class with Mrs Binning. During Mr Hay’s time away, unfortunately we are not able to find a replacement music teacher.
For Term 3 we are introducing a new language to the student’s learning and will be experiencing the language and culture of Germany. There are so many positive advantages in knowing another language and we are very lucky to have this opportunity. We welcome Anke Reymann to our staff for the term. Mr Warman is going to continue with the choir, who were fantastic in Meet and Greet this week.
In Grade 6 – Mrs Rime has taken leave and for the remainder of the term Mrs Bush and Ms Rainbow will be sharing the class. Mr Warman is going to take on the support of the students who would like to take part in Tournament of the Minds next term and I will be meeting with Bob about support for First Lego League. If any parents have any questions please contact the School Office and I am happy to have a chat with you.
Molesworth students at the Interschool Chess Tournament were coming equal second at lunch time after Round 4!!!!
Thank you Ms Munro for keeping us updated!!
UPDATE FROM MS MUNRO:
MOLESWORTH WERE VICTORIOUS AGAIN - FIRST PLACE!!
WELL DONE TO ALL!!!!
All students attending Molesworth Primary school do not require a mobile phone during the day. We recognise that an increasing number of parents/carers who for safety, security and/or emergency purposes wish to provide their child/children with mobile phones. If they require their phone for communicating with family before or after school it is expected they will drop the phone off at the School Office when they arrive in the morning where it is securely stored with their name on it for collection at the end of the day.
The phones are not checked by anyone while there. If you need to contact your children during school time please contact the School Office and they will pass the message on to your child. If you need to speak with your child we can organise for them to come to the office and a private space can be provided if required.
Time at school is time for learning and working and playing with their peers. It is for the safety of all that we do not have mobile phones in use while your children are here.
From our Division B Cross Country Carnival that was held earlier this term, 6 students from Molesworth finished top 25 in their events and were selected to represent our school at the All Schools Cross Country Event. Congratulations Haley, Charlotte, Braiden Darcy, Lacie and Grace. An outstanding achievement by these students.
Yesterday, Tuesday 18th, more than 1800 of Tasmania’s most aspiring primary school long distance runners for 2024 competed at the Athletics Tasmania’s all School’s Cross Country at Symmons Plains. Out of all these competitors, due to sickness before the event, we had 4 representing Molesworth Primary School!
Thank you to our parents and carers who were able to transport our students to their events all the way to Symmons Plains. Thank you, Mr and Mrs Miller, Mr Jelkic and Mr and Mrs Cross. We really appreciate you going above and beyond to support our athletes!!
We have been contacted by Subway making us aware that some of their orders have been missing a small amount of money. The envelopes don't seal fully and we have found that coins tend to fall out the sides. Please make sure the envelopes are securely sealed or place the whole order into a ziplock bag as we don't check orders when they are handed in at the School Office. Thank you.
SAFEGUARDING TRAINING IN OUR SCHOOLS
Did you know that as a DECYP employee, volunteer, or external service provider for the department, you must complete Safeguarding Training?
The compulsory training is designed to help us better safeguard kids in Tasmania.
Throughout the training, you’ll learn what to do if you believe a child or young person is being harmed. You will also learn what your reporting requirements are.
For more information on our Safeguarding Training, visit: https://www.decyp.tas.gov.au/safe-children/safeguarding-children/safeguarding-training/
To find out how the Office of Safeguarding Children and Young People is working to safeguard and protect children in the Department’s care, visit: https://www.decyp.tas.gov.au/safe-children/safeguarding-children/
Lunch orders will be continuing every Thursday in Term 3.
We will still be offering SUBWAY, Lily Taylor (with an extended menu) and a new supplier that will provide Sushi on the same day as SUBWAY. More information will be sent out soon along with order forms and a timetable for your fridge.
With the Jack Jumpers partnership with Huon Agriculture, Huon Agriculture will be providing a free brunch at recess time for our students on the day. Students are more than welcome to bring a packed recess if they would prefer but will have the option of having brunch by Huon Agriculture. More information is to come around the choice’s that will be provided to students. If you have any issues or concerns around this, please contact Miss Gourlay.
Miss Gourlay will be speaking to each class about the Jack Jumpers visit this Friday to talk about the details of the visit and what to expect in each of the basketball sessions.
PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE - 17TH JUNE - 24TH AUGUST 2024
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a personal challenge – not a competition. What’s your best reading tally? Can you beat it?
If you figure out what you love to read, reading will be easier – so try reading different things – fiction, non-fiction – blogs, comics, poetry, lyrics, essays, magazines, newspapers… it all counts in the PRC.
This is a challenge for all Tasmanian students. It doesn’t matter what your reading level is, everyone can take part.
Reading is a skill we need for life. All the reading you do in this challenge will help you at school and at home.
