A huge thank you to Emma Bradbury for the amazing mural. It was so wonderful to watch it develop from a plain blank wall to the amazing colourful native plant wall which includes the Blue Gum, the River Mint and the Waratah. To watch the process from start to finish check out Emma’s Instagram page. Seach for @emmaleebradburyart
Last year we had vandals visit the bridges and cut the ropes to the rope bridge so we only had access using the tyre bridge. In the last couple of weeks vandals have returned and cut into the main rope to the tyre bridge which has compromised the structural integrity of this bridge as well. I am currently working with facilities in the department about who can repair these and how do we finance this. It is so sad to see this happening and it is our kids and all the other 5000 kids that visit our MEC each year that are missing out. If you know anything about this please contact Mrs Smith or the School Office.
On a much happier note Mrs Young, Mrs MacGregor and Mr Rogers have been very busy developing the front of the MEC as another learning space, there is a (pretend) fire area, a pond area, a bush environment and the beginnings of a sand pit and new earth path. This space will be used as part of the early years program including for LiL classes. Take a look next time you are here as it is already looking amazing.
SPSSA CHAMPIONS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
On Wednesday May 1st, I had the privilege of attending the SPSSA Champions Athletics Carnival. There were 800 talented competitors from most southern tasmania schools at this year’s champions carnival and 6 of these students came from Molesworth! Congratulations to Braiden, Oaklahn, Haley, Freya, Alice and Violet who represented themselves and Molesworth fantastically.
I would like to thank all of our amazing families for transporting our athletes to and from the Athletics Domain Centre so that our competitors were able to compete in their events and of course for cheering on our competitors throughout the day!

In Term 2 AFL is an option on our school oval at recess and lunch time and it is our first PE unit for Term 2! As part of our unit we have had coach Jack and coach Rachel from AFL Tasmania come out to Molesworth Primary and run AFL Tasmania’s North Melbourne Football Club Next Generation School Program with us.
It was great to have Jack and Rachel come and assist us to further develop our AFL skills through playing many new activities and games! Jack has been a coach with AFL Tasmania for a few years now so it was great that he could share his knowledge of football, football skills and games with our students. We practised hand balling, ball movement, communication, listening, cooperation, game play, marking, dodging and kicking skills. We played many new different games! For our Preps and new students, it was the first time some of them had kicked and handballed a football. We had some very excited students!
In the future, with the recently announced AFL/AFLW Tasmania Devils team, we may indeed see some talent from Molesworth so keep your eyes peeled!
I would also like to say a big thank you to our school community for always kicking/throwing the balls back onto our school oval after they have found their way over the fence near the road!
If your child/children are interested in further AFL opportunities, please get in touch with AFL Tasmania. Please find the link to their website: https://www.afltas.com.au/
Tennis was quite popular at Molesworth last term, being an option at recess and lunchtime. Towards the end of last term, we had Jordan come from Tennis Tasmania for our tennis sessions. We practised and developed so many of our tennis skills, including being familiar with the correct technique of holding the racquet, aiming, hitting, scoring and many fun activities and modified mini games.
Here is a link to the Tennis Tasmania website: https://www.tennis.com.au/tas/ If your child/children are interested, there are some tennis tournaments coming up and training sessions available for young people!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our school community for throwing back our tennis balls afterschool and in the morning when you see them over our fences. It is very much appreciated!
