- WELCOME TO HAMMERBARN
Welcome back everyone and welcome to our new Kinder Superstars class. It was lovely seeing everyone back last Thursday in their new classes for 2024. We have started the year with swimming for our grade 3 to 5 students which is going really well. Thank you to all the families who got their Aquatic Consent forms back so promptly.
This year we will continue to use Seesaw for information from your child’s teachers and for the sharing of your child’s learning. All families were automatically rolled over to the new classes but if you have any connection issues please speak with your child’s teacher.
As always, this term as part of our Sunsmart policy, all students require a bucket hat when outside. These are available for purchase through the office if you are unable to find their hat from last year.
We have a busy term ahead so please regularly check in to our online calendar on our website and within the newsletter as these will be updated as new events are organised.
School photo day is Thursday 7th March. Click on the PDF link for all details on how to order.
NATIONAL CHESS COMPETITION 2024
It is always inspiring to recognise students stepping out of their comfort zone and seeking challenges outside of school. A huge congratulations to our very own Molesworth Primary Chess Champion, Sebastian who competed at the National 2024 Chess Competition held in Adelaide during January. It is such an incredible achievement to compete at a national tournament and Sebastian successfully came 24th in the under 8’s and was the highest placing Tasmanian competitor in his age group.
LIFT - LEARNING IN FAMILIES TOGETHER
This week we would like to share a link to the Great Start website. Here you can explore free activities, play ideas along with information about the development of your child. It also can provide tips on connecting with help should you need it.
Great Start - Department for Education, Children and Young People, Tasmania
Spending time outdoors for learning and play is so important for a child’s development. At Molesworth we enjoy celebrating our beautiful school environment and are focused on fostering family connection to the school through special events such as Outdoor Classroom Days throughout the year.
Our first Outdoor Classroom Day for 2024 will be held in Term 2 on Thursday 23rd May. This day will have an Arts focus and we are busily planning the day.
We are calling out for any artists in our community to support the day with ideas and activites, please contact Mr Greg Warman at greg.warman@decyp.tas.gov.au or through the School Office to discuss.
Our School will be switching over to a new messaging platform for communicating with you.
The new platform, called EdSmart is an Australian platform which is designed to improve communication in school communities by allowing electronic messaging i.e. SMS and emails. For now, it will be used to manage absences messages i.e. you will receive a SMS or email alert if your child is absent from school requesting a response. It will also allow us to send a communication message to all parent/guardians.
The platform will, over time, be rolled out across all Tasmanian Government Schools and new features will be added.
You will receive a text message and/or an email with further details. Note, the text message sender will be a shortened version of our school’s name - Please keep an eye out for it!
Further information is available on the Department’s website
SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY PROGRAM 2024
What a beautiful day it was for our first day of Swimming and Water Safety yesterday and well done to all our students for being organised with their gear and for having a go.
It is lovely to be able to have our school community come and support our students.
I would like to say thank you to all our families and carers for returning their aquatic permission forms so promptly this term. I would also like to thank Ms Dillon in the office for the organisation of these forms.
I look forward to seeing how our Grade 3, 4, and 5 students progress over the two weeks!
SAFEGUARDING TRAINING IN OUR SCHOOLS
Did you know that as a DECYP employee, volunteer, or external service provider for the department, you must complete Safeguarding Training?
The compulsory training is designed to help us better safeguard kids in Tasmania.
Throughout the training, you’ll learn what to do if you believe a child or young person is being harmed. You will also learn what your reporting requirements are.
For more information on our Safeguarding Training, visit: https://www.decyp.tas.gov.au/safe-children/safeguarding-children/safeguarding-training/
