HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY BREAK
As we enjoy the last couple of days of the 2023 school year I would like to wish every family a wonderful summer break. I hope you all find time to relax, (putting the school uniform away) and enjoy family time.
Thank you to all the families that attended our Presentation Assembly on Monday and thank you to everyone who helped move location and pateintly waited while we very quickly set up the hall. All classes were fantastic with their sharing of their musical item, there are certainly so many talented students here at Molesworth. In particular congratulations to our choir who sang 2 wonderful songs, looking forward to the continued development of our choir next year.
Congratulations to our award recipients which is acknowledgement for all their hard work and to all our Grade 6 2023 graduates. They are all enjoying their day in town today together to celebrate the year.
All families are warmly welcome to join us tomorrow for a BYO picnic lunch at 12:30 pm with the children and the colour run after lunch. The coffee van will be here. Children are invited to wear a white/light top where the colours show up for their run.
Before and After School Care
Keep an Eye out for finalised Details
Next Year we are offering before and after school care here on site in our hall. This will be run by Uniting (Vic & Tas) Early Learning. Before school care will be open from 7:00 am and after school care will go through to 6:00 pm. All details are being finalised and as soon as we have the details for enquiries and registration we will send it out via Schoolzine. We are just waiting for the final sign off of the contracts then we will be good to go. Please keep a check in Schoolzine because if it is not finalised by Friday it may be early January.
KINDER TO GRADE 6 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
On Wednesday December 13th we had our Kinder to Grade 6 Athletics Carnival. What an active and fun way to finish our last carnival for the year. It was a sea of blue, green and red on the oval. It is always so lovely to see our kids have a go at our different events, trying their hardest for themselves and for their team, supporting others and cooperating with each other!
It was so amazing to see so many of our school community members come and support our kids, especially with the warm weather forecast. I think this may be the biggest turn out we have had to a carnival, thank you for coming and supporting our students!
It is impossible to organise, set up and run these carnivals by myself and I would like to thank all the staff for helping to make our carnival run smoothly, thank you to Mr Rogers, Mrs Barber and the Sport Leaders for assisting me in setting up! And to Mr Rogers, Mrs Barber, Ms Bennett, Mrs Rime, Sport Leaders and other students for packing up.
Our last big active event will be our Colour Run on the last day of Term. I am looking forward to trying out the course which is designed by our Sport Leaders, Addison, Holly and James! I would also like to thank all our wonderful sport leaders for 2023 - Holly, James, Addison (Terms 3-4) and Joseph (Term 1-2). Your hard work, commitment and organisation has been amazing, and I have really appreciated your assistance at all carnivals, helping out our younger students, meeting in your break times, using your initiative to organise our sporting equipment every recess and lunch time, and leading by example.
Earlier in November the Australian Disc Golf Championships were held in Hobart at the Poimena Reserve in Austin’s Ferry! ON Thursday 7th December and Thursday 14th December, our Grade 5/6 classes tested their frisbee skills out at the reserve.
The labels hadn’t been removed from the Championships, so our courses didn’t quite match up with our maps however all groups did a great job at navigating their way through the course!
Here are some comments from some of our frisbee players:
- Oaklahn – I would recommend starting from the 1st
- Seth – It was pretty good and fun to try different ways to outsmart the wind!
- Haley – It was fun!
- Lachlan – You had to try and make your score the lowest, it was challenging!
The Poimena Reserve Disc Golf course is operated by the Glenorchy Council with the support of local volunteers. Anyone can play and the course is open to the public all year round from dawn until dusk and is free! It is also not that far from the Derwent Valley! If you would like more information about this course please visit their website where you can look at photos, read about events coming up, check out the map and download the scoring sheets: https://poimenadiscgolf.com.au/
We would like to say a big thank you to our parent/carer volunteers, we had so many which made our excursions run smoothly as we had smaller teams! Thank you, Ms Bennett, Mr Jelkic, Miss Robertson, Mrs Kaitinis, Mr Saunders, Mrs Barber, Mrs Ferriss, Mrs Watson, and Ms Douglas for accompanying our groups and assisting our students in scoring! We appreciated your help.
