And this week sees the end of another amazing term at Molesworth.
Throughout the term we celebrated learning in so many different ways, from our Open Day to our Molesworth’s Got Talent show along with such a mix of incredible learning in all classes. I regularly have students visit to share their learning with me and are always so proud of what they have achieved.
Keep checking on Seesaw or if you able, drop by the classrooms where your child can share some of what they have been learning.
Tomorrow is the last day for Mrs Warman in our 3/4 class as Mr Hay will be returning from family leave next term. Thank you so much Lora for your compassionate, caring approach to everything you have done this term. It is always great to drop by and witness the engagement of the students as they talk about all their learning. All the very best for the next stage in your career.
MOLESWORTH'S GOT TALENT
Last Friday we witnessed lots of amazing talent from our students during the Molesworth’s Got Talent show. Brilliant singing, dancing, magic and joke telling along with many unique performances. All the students who showed great courage to stand up on stage and perform are to be congratulated and I know the audience certainly appreciated the effort put in to making it a special event.
I wish every family a wonderful break and look forward to seeing you all back for Term 4.
SWISHERRS BASKETBALL COACH VISIT
Why are basketball players messy eaters? They’re always dribbling!
Our focus in PE until the end of term is basketball! We have been lucky to have THE head coach of the Hobart Chargers, Anthony ‘Stewy’ Stewart come to Molesworth and coach our kids for the last two weeks. An incredible opportunity for our students, to be shown many new activities and games, and tips to further develop their skills. One of the comments Stewy made to me was that he was really impressed by the basketball skills and coordination our students have. Stewy shared with the kids the journey he has been on through his sporting career and that the main contributor to his success has been all the practise he has put into basketball.
Thank you to Swisherr Hoops for organising this amazing opportunity for our students and a huge thank you to Stewy for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his knowledge and skills with our kids.
To finish the PE term, our year 5/6 classes will travel to Moonah Sports Stadium with our lovely parent helper’s to meet Richard from ParaQuad Tasmania and participate in Wheelchair Basketball and sitting volleyball!
MAKING OUR SCHOOL SAFER - SAFEGUARDING LEAD
Our school has a dedicated Safeguarding Lead who will guide the development of our child-safe culture and help us to be an exemplary child-safe organisation. Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and your support of this work is vital.
Next term our SRC have registered Molesworth for Day for Daniel (Morcombe). The SRC are planning a gold coin donation for a free dress outrageous day on Wednesday 25th of October. As part of your dress up, we are encouraging students to include red to raise awareness. Students, please keep an eye out for them visiting your classrooms for more details.
Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest national child safety education and awareness day. The aims of the Foundation are to educate children and young people about how to stay safe in physical and online environments and to support young victims of crime. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in honour of Daniel Morcombe to make Australia a safer place for children.
If you or your family would like to access the Daniel Morcombe Foundation resources, here is a direct link to their website where they have many amazing resources for keeping our children safe: https://danielmorcombe.com.au/
How come cows do not play a game of chess? They cannot make any mooooves.
A wonderful day was had by all the students who participated in the Black Square Chess Tournament which was held at St Virgils Senior Campus last Wednesday.
These children showed great skill and sportsmanship which resulted in wonderful results:
1st - Adam Hemsley
6th - Seb Thiessen
12th - Darcy Cross
23rd - Timana Galvin
28th - Kit Lonsdale - Harrison Stone
35th - Nick Jordan - Peppa Ferris
43rd - Luna McDonald
Our Grade 3 to Grade 6 Swimming Trials will be held on the first Friday of next Term (Friday 20th October) from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the New Norfolk Swimming pool. This is an optional sporting event and we strongly encourage those students who were in group 2 or 3 during our Swimming and Water Safety Program earlier in Term 1 to sign up.
If your child is interested, and you have not yet signed and returned the note via Schoolzine, please do so. Miss Gourlay sent out additional information and a schedule of events to all families via seesaw. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact Miss Gourlay on Seesaw or contact the School Office.
