It is so nice to be outside in the sunshine. In Term 4 we bring back the hat policy for outside play for all students but any child can choose to wear it anytime. If you or your child are not sure where their hat is now is a good time to check for it. They are always available from the School Office for $8 if you are needing a new one.
SRC - MOLESWORTH'S GOT TALENT
Next Friday 22nd September and the last day of Term 29th September are our 2 dates for this year’s Molesworth's Got Talent. Over the next week the hall will be available for students to organise their performances. Prep – Grade 2 will be presenting their acts on Friday 22nd starting at 1:20 pm in the hall. The Grades 3 – 6 are the following Friday at the same time. If your child is performing, family members are welcome to come along and watch. This year every performer will receive a small thank you but there will not be any winners. The SRC are busy organising this event and checking in with the registrations for acts. If your child is wanting to perform check that they have registered with SRC.
USING OUR PLAYGROUND OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS
We have great outdoor spaces for our children to use at school. On the weekends and after school sometimes families come to use our playground. It is great that the space is available to use. Unfortunately, on the weekend we had damage and vandalism to our playground. It was very sad to arrive on Monday to see our new blocks on the roof of the MEC and in the creek and very inappropriate pictures drawn on our equipment. Please encourage everyone to look after our school all the time.
MOLESWORTH PRIMARY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Referendum BBQ – 14th October.
This year our hall will be a polling booth for the referendum and the School Association are running a BBQ during the day. If you are able to help at any stage during the day please let the School Office know and we can pass the information on to our School Association or let them know via their Facebook page. All money raised from this day go towards the kids in our school.
Congratlations to the two TOM teams who presented their challenges last Saturday at the Tournanent of Minds. A huge effort by all after 6 weeks of every lunch time practising, writing scripts, co-ordinating props and working as a team.
Both teams should be very proud of their efforts. Thank you to all the parents who came along and stayed to support their children.
PREP TO GRADE 4 HOCKEY EXCURSIONS
Tuesday and Wednesday this week saw our Grade 3/4 classes and P/1 and 1/2 classes travel to the New Town Hockey Centre to apply their hockey knowledge and skills out at Tasmania’s Hockey facility.
Coach Josh met both groups at the Hockey Centre and explained the rules of being safe on the turf. We then practised our skills before jumping into some mini games. The grounds were MASSIVE! Both excursions were amazing for our kids to be able to practise their skills and play hockey on the turf that national teams play on.
Here are some comments from of our Molesworth Hockey stars:
- Jude – my favourite part of the excursion was playing the games.
- Anderson – I liked challenging another team.
- Max – I enjoy playing hockey.
- Reevie - my favourite part of the excursion was playing hockey with my friends.
- Luna – I liked when we played hockey games.
A big thank you to Mrs Watson, Mrs Saunders, Mr Turner, Mrs Duncombe, Mr Paiva Lago, Ms Geeves, Mrs Stock, Mrs Browning, Mrs Barber and Ms Wilton for accompanying us on our excursions and assisting our kids and coach Josh at the Hockey Centre! Go team!
If your child/children are interested in further Hockey opportunities please see the attached Hockey flyers in our school newsletter.
Last week (much to everyone's delight) students made scones as well as strawberry jam!! Thank you to Ms Burns and Ms Hanson for all their help. The recipe is such as easy one and so very tasty!!
LEMONADE SCONES:
3 cups of self raising flour
1 cup of cream
1 cup of lemonade
Sift flour into a large bowl and make a well in the centre. Add cream and lemonade and mix with a knife until almost fully combined. Tip out onto a floured surface and pat out to 2cm thick. Cut with a scone cutter and cook in a moderate oven for approximately 20 minutes until brown and a skewer comes out clean when inserted. Serve split with jam and cream.

A local radio station is currently running a competition for a Tassie school to win S10,000. Our school is on the list for anyone and everyone who would like to vote for us.
This morning I asked the students if we had $10 000 what would they like to see it spent on for the school. There were so many very creative ideas.
- Isla and Chelsea would love to see our vegetable garden extended so vegetables could be picked and eaten at recess and lunch.
- Nick would love another slide.
- Hugh would love more building blocks.
- Laurie and Haley would love a trampoline.
- Riley suggested proper goals for the oval for soccer and AFL.
- Sonny suggested a BMX track and,
- Peppa would love more Science equipment.
There were lots wanting more sports equipment, in particular new basketball rings that are a single ring not the double ring because the ball spins too much.
From the more creative we also had a water fountain, a chocolate fountain a train track with a train on it and a Ninja Warrior course with a rock climbing wall. Lots of wonderful ideas.
All families are encouraged to spread the word – Molesworth is an amazing school and we certainly deserve to be labelled School of the Year.
