NEARLY THE END OF TERM 2 ALREADY!!
For the rest of this term and term 3
Next week I am on leave until the end of term. During this time Mr Greg Warman will be taking over my role and Mrs Kathryn Gilbert will be on Grade 1/2 for the days Mr Warman is normally in there.
Next Thursday 22nd June Mr Hay begins family leave for the rest of this term and then is taking leave for all of Term 3. We wish Mr Hay all the best as he takes time to enjoy the very precious early months of a new baby in the family. I’m sure we will see photos of the newest addition as they settle at home. From the 22nd until the end of the term Mrs Bush will be taking the 3/4 class, then for all of Term 3 we welcome Mrs Lora Warman on to the class.
Ms Gourlay continues to be away while she has treatment for her ruptured cruciate ligament in her ankle. An update today is she is progressing well and will start to do weight bearing exercises with an ankle brace. We are hoping we will see her back before the end of term. At the moment she will be away until 28th July. We have Mrs Gilbert, Mrs Bush and Mrs Herring doing an amazing job taking PE and dance classes.
The building of the lanterns
Wow, the platypus and smaller animals are looking amazing, almost ready for the parade in New Norfolk on Friday 23rd June. Congratulations to all the 5/6 students who have contributed to the project. We have one more day next week for final touches and to take a mini parade through the school to share with all the other classes before the night. If any 5/6 students are able to attend on the night that would be wonderful. Please see notice in this newsletter for more details. A very big thank you to Naomi Marantelli and the Derwent Valley Council for the idea and funding for this to take place.
Security at Molesworth
Unfortunately, due to the damage that has happened in our school we have installed security cameras around the school. We hope we will never need to review any footage but they are there to support looking after our amazing school.
I wish all families all the best for the last 3 weeks of this term and an enjoyable term break and will see everyone in Term 3 starting on Tuesday 25th July.
Mrs Leanne Smith, Principal
SPSSA CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL 2023
Last Thursday our Molesworth Primary School cross country team headed off to Bayview College to compete in the SPSSA Cross Country event. Every student that came along on the day tried their absolute best and represented our school beautifully. Congratulations to all!
Some thoughts from the students...
It was a very cold day, but everyone stuck to it and did a very good job. By Palasa
It was very hard and it was good that it was cold so we didn't get too hot. I liked it. By Ashley
It was cold, but I enjoyed it. By Ella
It was fun. It was hard. There was a lot of people. I saw my friend there and my cousin's school was there. By Riley
Last week we saw My Hay begin his conversations with his families as he is on leave from 22nd June until the end of Term 3.
This week Mrs McCausland is conducting her conversations with the Kinder families. The other classes are being held during Week 10 and 11. The invitations to book a time to meet has gone out via Schoolzine. If you are unsure or having any issues please call the office and Anita and Telisa are very happy to help you out. All teachers look forward to these times to talk about your child and share their learning as well as talk about any information you have to share.
As a Move Well Eat Well school, we strongly support all students to have water only to drink whilst at school. It has been noticed that some students have been bringing energy/caffeine style drinks (eg. Prime). These are not allowed at school.
As we experience the onset of Winter outside can be very chilly. All students can wear beanies to keep warm. They will be asked to take them off when inside.
Last week 5/6R went on a MEC excursion for team building, our focus was teamwork. When we got there, we split off into 3 groups. There were seven activities, the activities were rescue Tas, toxic waste, prison break, pipeline, walkway of death, tire swing and George of the jungle. In George of the jungle we tried to beat the record. We didn’t beat the all schools record of 18 people but we did get the Molesworth record with 10. After George of the jungle, we went back to get our bags, then we came back to school. At school, we had to choose someone from our group to say something good about them, then we posted it on Seesaw. Overall, it was a fun day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Jett – I enjoyed the tyre swing the best.
Riley – It was fun. The tyre swing was easy but some people struggled with it.
Nate – It was very fun.
YOUTH CLIMATE LEADERS CONFERENCE 2023
On Monday the 5th of June, 8 students from grade 5-6 represented our school at the Youth Climate Leaders Conference 2023.
Ziva, Ellis, Olivia, Charlotte, Joseph, Freya, Seth and Haley listened to key note speakers and experts in climate science, including a presentation from the Young Australian of the Year recipient, Toby Thorpe.
After joining in workshops with mentors in climate science and sustainability, our students developed a climate action plan that they hope to enact in our community in the coming months. We can’t wait to help them facilitate their actions and are inspired by their ideas so far.
Look out for what they come up with in the very near future!
Yesterday we had Josh from Cricket Tasmania at school during our PE lessons to pass on his extensive knowledge of cricket to all our students.
