Today, we have been advised that the planned Stop Work Action for Friday, 10 March has been called off by the Australian Education Union (AEU).
This means that on Friday our normal school operations will be in place.
Already halfway through Term 1, how quickly the time has gone.
Last week saw the end of our swimming and water safety program for this year and I would like to congratulate all our Grade 3,4 and 5 students for their commitment to improving their skills in and around the water.
Next week our Grade 3 and Grade 5 students take part in the NAPLAN assessments. These assessments are just one piece of data that we use when looking at student learning and where to next. We organise the testing with their class teacher and make it as much like normal classroom work as we can. If you have any questions about this assessment, I am more than happy to have a chat.
Our new hoodies have certainly been popular and it is so great to see everyone in school uniform. As the weather is very changeable at the moment please check that all items of clothing are clearly named so when found we can get them back to where they belong quickly.
Enjoy the extra day this weekend with Monday being a Public Holiday.
Black Square Chess who run school competions are coming to school on Friday to share their knowledge. All childen are invited to attend in the hall at lunch time.
SRC AND SPORTS LEADERS - TERMS 3 AND 4 2023
On Monday at Meet and Greet we introduced the new SRC and Sports Leaders for Term 3 and 4. We have a great mix of students that wanted to continue and those new that were voted in.
We would like to congratulate Palasa, Laurie, Brontee and Henry who were voted in to be SRC representatives.
Congratulations as well to Holly, Addison and James on being selected Sports Leaders.
They have already been busy this week offering a fund raiser to celebrate National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day this Friday.
2023 GRADE 3-6 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Next Tuesday 14th March we will be running our first sporting carnival for 2023, our Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival! Our sport leaders for 2023 will be opening our carnival which will start at 12.30pm-2.30pm on our school oval. All of our year 3-6 students have been practising and developing their skills over the last few weeks and are ready to go!
Members of our school community are more than welcome to come along to support and cheer our students!
Students are encouraged to wear an item/s of clothing in their house colour. Class teachers can remind students of their house colour and let our new students know what house they are in. Below is the description of each colour and their special meaning for our school community:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss Gourlay or the School Office.
Yesterday the whole school enjoyed a performance from Beats 'n Pieces. Lots of great music, trivia and dance.
School photo day is TOMORROW Thursday 9 March. Please find attached instructions on how to order photos for your children if wish to do so.
It is an online process which requres an access key which is provided in the instructions. If you have any issues or questions please contact Pied Piper Portraits on 6228 6878.

SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY 2023
Last Friday our year 3, 4 and 5 students finished our Swimming and Water Safety Program for 2023! We had some beautiful weather out at the New Norfolk pool during our two weeks of swimming. Over the duration of the program our student’s confidence in the water grew, their eagerness to learn new swimming and water safety skills was fantastic and the development and progress that was made was incredible!
Thank you to all the AUTSWIM teachers for teaching our students swimming and water safety skills during this year’s program. Thank you to our school community who came to support and encourage our students.
With all this fantastic swimming practise and development in swimming skills, I look forward to our Swim Trials in Term 4 to see what our students can achieve this year in the pool!
Together the SRC planned to clean up our school as part of Clean up Australia day. We even went in places that are usually out of bounds like under the deck which was really dirty and dusty. People also moved the bag boxes and found lots of rubbish under and also behind. It really helped our school as a whole.
