As we look through our calendar we certainly have a very busy final term for 2022. There are 13 different excursions to take place during the term. Today we have sent home a paper copy calendar of the rest of the term with everything that is confirmed against the days it is happening, This is for you to hang on your fridge and add any extra items that may come up as the term goes on.
The calendar is also always available on our website and as part of our newsletter. Keep checking in with Schoolzine or Szapp as notices are sent out via this platform. If ever you have any questions please check in with your child’s teacher or the School Office and they are more than happy to help. Before we know it we will be in those last very busy couple of weeks of the year with assemblies, carnivals and the final day colour run fun.
As I am sure many families remember, before the rebuild, our daily whole school assemblies under the old sheltered area near the office. Starting next Monday 31st October we are reintroducing a quick Whole School Assembly (Meet and Greet) to go through the week’s events, share any celebrations and whole school messages. It will start at 8:45 am in the hall and go for approximately 10 – 15 minutes. These will take place every Monday morning. Parents are more than welcome to stay for these.
OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY - THURSDAY 3RD NOVEMBER 2022
Next week we will be celebrating Outdoor Classroom Day for the third year.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning and we will be celebrating with a special session with our whole school learning outside in mixed grade groups.
Time outdoors – on Outdoor Classroom Day and every day – will make children happier and healthier, as well as equipping them with the skills they need for life.
We will be running 2 sessions for our whole school. The first session will be from 10:40 am – 11:35 am and the second session from 11:35 am – 12:30 pm. The children will be in groups from Kinder to 2 or 3 to 6.
As it is a Thursday the Kinder students finish at 12.10 pm. Parents are more than welcome to pick their child up a little later at 12.30 or if they need to collect them at 12.10 we will make sure they are back up in the Kinder at that time. Let Mrs McCausland know by next Thursday.
All families are very welcome to join us for these sessions. Come along and learn and have fun with your children in the beautiful outdoor spaces we have around the school.
SOUTHERN PRIMARY SCHOOL BASKETBALL COMPETITION
Congratulations to Henry, James, Bryce, Nate, Ellis, Aiden, Joseph, Chayse and Seth who participated in the Southern Primary Schools Basketball Competition on the weekend. Unfortunately due to family commitments I was not able to attend, but talking to the boys on Monday morning they all really enjoyed the experience. They may not have won any games but they played hard, learnt lots and supported one another through each game.
Speaking with Adrain Hepburn on Monday he was so proud of their attitude and sportsmanship. They weren’t out there just for themselves they we out there for the team, which was particularly evident in the final game when they wanted to make sure, by the end, every team member had gotten at least one basket.
A huge thank you to Jordyn for her coaching and to Adrian and Alison for everything they did both leading up to the weekend and during the 2 days. Their support for fundraising, organising practise sessions, making sure umpiring is organised and all the registrations were up to date was amazing. From all at Molesworth thank you for giving our students this amazing opportunity.
Why can’t a bicycle stand up on its own? Because its two tired!
Term 4 saw the Bike Education Program come to Molesworth. Our students revisited their knowledge of how to safely check and fit a helmet, and how to perform an ABCD check on a bike. We practised adjusting the seat level for our own height, how to start in the power position, safely navigating through cones, giving way to people on our right and navigating through a roundabout.
We are very lucky to have Shane come out to Molesworth again this year to revisit these skills with our students and continue to develop their bike education. We would like to thank Shane from the Bike education Program for sharing his bicycle knowledge with us and for sharing his equipment! Shane will be back out to Molesworth for Outdoor Classroom Day and for the final PE session for the year on Tuesday 20th December. What a fun way to end PE for the year!
I would like to thank the parents and carers who organised pick up and drop offs of bikes and helmets during the program. If you would like to drop off your childs’ bike or helmet for the last session of the year, you are more than welcome to and we can safely store them in the hall for your childs’ PE session on Tuesday 20th December.

SCHOOL NURSE NEWS - SOUND SCOUTS HEARING ASSESSMENTS
A couple of School Nurses are trialling a new hearing test system, and our School Nurse Chloe is one! We are very excited that Chloe will be conducting this trial here at Molesworth Primary throughout term 4.
What is Sound Scouts?
An estimated 1 in 10 school children suffer from hearing loss, which left undetected can lead to speech, learning and behavioural problems. The Sound Scouts hearing check is a simple app-based system which can identify if a child has a hearing issue, including listening difficulties in noise. The test incorporates the science of a hearing test in a fun interactive game. Evidence based, accessible and delivering immediate results, it’s the perfect screening solution.
You can read more about Sound Scouts on their website: https://www.soundscouts.com/au/
How can your child be a part of sound scouts?
Students of any age are welcomed to participate in this trial, even if they have had a hearing assessment before! Nurses are offering to re-test your child’s hearing as a way to determine if a new system is appropriate for future use.
If you are happy for your child to participate in our trial, please grab a consent form from the School Office. Please note that this is a trial, and our school nurse will do her best to test as many students as possible who return consent forms. If your child is tested throughout this trial period, you will receive a copy of the results.
