FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH
As we head in to the second half of Term 1 we see the weather start to cool. Please check that your child’s jumpers are clearly marked so we can get them out of lost property and back into the homes where they belong.
DEPARTMENT SITES COVID PLAN for WEEK 6 – 10 Term 1.
Last week the Department released our Covid plan for the next 5 weeks. The details include:
- All adults continue to wear masks inside but can take them off when outside. Children continue to choose to wear a mask if they want to.
- Continued increased COVID-19 safe cleaning including additional disinfecting of high touch point surfaces, increasing ventilation.
- Parents and carers continue to be allowed on school sites. Time spent should be limited. COVID safe measures in place.
- Water fountains may be used with frequent cleaning as a high touch area.
- Limiting of large gatherings of mixed groupings
- LiL within the building continues to be on hold – we encourage all our families to make contact with the Child and Family Learning Centre in New Norfolk.
If you have any questions please talk with your child’s teacher or make contact with the office. We are very fortunate here with only a few recorded cases or close contacts. There are plenty of RAT tests available at the office, if you have used any that have been handed out, please make sure you keep up your supplies at home to use if required.
It is so great to visit classrooms and see all the wonderful learning happening in each class. The Kinder/Prep have been learning all about one another. In Prep/1 they have been looking at the different seasons and the activities we can do during these times. In 2/3 they are focussing on families and how different groups in the school work together. In 3/4 they have been getting to know one another in the class through their writing and finding out about sizzling starts and wow words to engage the readers. The 4/5s are discovering all the different ways in their writing they can engage their audiences and persuade them with arguments and facts.
The 5/6 class are learning all about space. This morning before school Ethan was busy researching facts about the planets and sharing all his learning with other students as they discussed the comparable sizes of the planets within our solar system. In the hall we have all classes learning new dances with the possibility of taking part in the dance event later this year. Lots and lots of learning is shared on Seesaw so keep checking in and talking to your children about what they do at school.
As I am sure you all saw yesterday we have 4 vacancies on our School Association. If you are interested or simply wondering what is involved in being a committee member please chat with any of our current committee members.
2022 STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (SRC) AND SPORTS LEADERS
We would like to congratulate Alexia, Arabella, Finn and Darci who were voted in to be this years SRC representatives. Congratulations as well to Bryce and Myler on being selected as this year's Sports Leaders.
Well done to you all.
Why did all the students from Kinder to Year 3 at Molesworth need an extra pair of socks for PE? Just in case they got a hole-in-one!
In PE over the last two weeks, our Kinder to Year 3 students were visited by Mat, a Gold Coach from Gecko Sports. Mat taught us the importance of ‘GASS’ when learning about Golf. Grip, aim, stance and swing! Over the two weeks our students practised GASS when playing a variety of games, using putters. They have learnt many new skills as well as developing skills they already had!
A tee-rific time was had, it was like a golf par-tee!
We would like to thank Mat for coming and visiting our Molesworth students and running golf sessions with us.
SIZZLING STARTS BY 2-3 JACOBSON
‘One day….On the weekend….Once upon a time…’ are just a few of the common sentence starters 2-3’s noticed that we use to begin our writing. Although, there is nothing wrong with any of these beginnings, students agreed these sentence starters didn’t hook or engage the reader and well frankly, were just plain old boring.
As writers and authors, 2-3’s have set out to ‘ban the boring’ by using creative ways to capture an audience. We have been identifying different writing techniques to help start our stories in a powerful, interesting, exciting, funny or unusual way.
We have been learning to use:
Read some of our sizzling starts based on ‘a dance’:
- Do, do, da, dee, went the music. – Otis & Sonny H
- Tap, tap, tap went the tap dancing shoes on the concrete stage. – Peppa & Grace
- Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh went the ballerina dancers spinning really fast. - Kobi & Nick
- At the start of the lyrical, I was nervous but that didn’t stop me from what I loved. - Silas & Milly
- I leapt out of my bed and ran to the car and Mum drove me to the humungous dance floor. -Henry, Lacie & Olive
- Tappity tap went the tap dances. – Finn & Archie
- The killer wasp gracefully flapped his miniature wings with talent as he danced with a millipede. – Emillia & Sonny F
- The ballerina came out of nowhere and leapt onto the stage while the crowd goes wild. She spins and twirls around on her tippy toes. - Toby, Darcy, Hugh & Chelsea
- A dancer spins on their head fast until dizziness occurred, making them flip onto the concrete colliding with the hard floor. - Harry, Angel, Hailey & Divinia
- “I don’t want to go to the dance floor Mum, please!” – Olive, Henry & Lacie
- Have you ever danced in front of 1000 people? Well I have with 100 dogs doing ballet. - Peppa & Grace
- I moved my hands from my head to my hips performing the macarena on the enormous stage. - Nick & Kobi
- The curtains opened as a mysterious looking person started to move their arms like a jellyfish. - Milly & Silas
- Have you ever beatboxed in your life? Asked my brother Jack. - Henry, Lacie & Olive
- “Hey you, Breakdancer! Looks like you need some serious practise or dance lessons.” Nick & Kobi
We have 14 amazing prizes and we would like to thank all families who generously donated towards our raffle.
Raffle books have been sent home and more are available from the School Office.
The raffle will be drawn on Tuesday 12 April.
This year Molesworth Primary School SRC have chosen to participate in Wonder Recycling for schools where you can bring in your bread bags and bread tags as long as they’re clean. The collection point is in the 5-6 classroom.
The more we collect the more awesome sports equipment there is.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL (YEARS 3-6) & SPSSA CARNIVAL
Wow what a morning we had at our Athletics Carnival!
On Tuesday 8th March, our year 3 to 6 students participated in our first carnival for 2022! It was their day to showcase their best running, jogging, sprinting, vortex throwing and shot putting. Every student did such a fantastic job, trying their hardest and cheering and encouraging their peers.
There were so many ribbons handed out on the day that we ran out! More are coming, and as soon as they arrive, we will pass these onto those students. Every student received a certificate of participation to remember how hard they tried on the day!
From our school carnival, the results were in, and a school team was put together to represent Molesworth at the SPSSA Division D interschool athletics carnival for 2022. There are 48 students altogether and we wish them the very best for the interschool carnival! We know they will represent Molesworth proudly.
School photo day is now on Wednesday 19th October. Please find attached instructions on how to order photos for your children if wish to do so. It is an online process which requres an access key which is provided in the instructions. If you have any issues or questions please contact Pied Piper Portraits on 6228 6878.
