FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH
Thank you to all families for following all of the Public Health guidelines that were put in place last Friday. It is great to see all our students back in classes yesterday and all adults on site wearing masks. A reminder that if you enter our school grounds you now need to check in via the TAS Check-in app not just if you come inside the building.
A reminder that tomorrow is Show Day and Friday is a student free day so I hope everyone has a lovely extra long weekend and enjoys the predicted sunshine and warm weather.
As we settle into Term 4 we see on the calendar there are lots of extra events happening outside regular classroom learning. Please keep a regular check on your emails and the SZapp app as all our notes and permission forms now come through electronically. Any issues please contact the Office and they are more than happy to help.
Our webpage has a school calendar on it and all events are added to that as well to keep you up to date.
Thanks to everyone who have found their child’s bucket hats for this term. If needed there are plenty in stock at the office for $8.00.
On Wednesday 3rd November we have our Term 4 open session. It is Outdoor Classroom Day and this year we welcome families to come and join in. You are welcome to drop in at any time between 9:10 am and 11:30 am for as little or as long as you like. During these times children will be working in mixed groups outside for 2 different activities. The first session will run from 9:10 am until 10:10 am and the second session from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The Prep to Grade 2/3 classes will be in mixed groups and the 3/4 to 5/6 classes the same. All groups will be outside around the school. The office will have a list of where children are or you are welcome to wander and find them. The coffee van will also be here on that day.
Week 4 and Week 5 ( 1st to 12th November), the Swimming and Water Safety Program is being run for grades 3, 4 and 5 students. There will be extra information coming out about this to those classes and if you have any questions please talk with your child’s teacher.
Congratulations to all students who braved the chilly weather yesterday and competed in our school swimming trails. It was so great to witness the dedication of all to do their very best and the support of their school mates. The interschool event is on Thursday November 4th and relevant information will be sent out to all families of students who are eligible for this event.
Yesterday 27 Molesworth kids made some waves at the New Norfolk Swimming Pool putting their swimming abilities to the test in our Swimming Trials for 2021!
The wintery conditions were certainly no match for our competitors. We had a fantastic afternoon with many students competing in their first ever swimming trials! Our kids participated in the following events: 25m and 50m freestyle, 25m Breastroke, 25m aquatic underarm, 25m backstroke and the much-anticipated 25m noodle race.
An enormous congratulations to all our swimmers on their efforts and encouragement of others!
We would like to thank our school community for coming along to cheer, Mr Jelkic and Mr Rogers who were our recorders for the afternoon, Mrs Smith and our 3 New Norfolk High leaders for organising placings and ribbons at the finish line, Mrs Dillon for organising all of our forms in the office and Terry from the New Norfolk Pool for having us!
MOLESWORTH PRIMARY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
Next Tuesday 26 October, 2021 our Molesworth Primary School Association are holding their next meeting which will commence at 4:30 pm in the Staffroom. If you have anything you wish to be discussed at this meeting please see one of your parent representatives.
All parents/carers are welcome to attend.
REMINDER TO ALL PARENTS/CARERS
Just a reminder that Thursday 21 October (tomorrow) is a Public Holiday and Friday 22 October is a Student Free Day.
Kinder Superstars have had a busy start and are embracing the start of term 4. We have loved catching up with our friends and sharing stories after the holidays.
We have been out and about in the big playground of a Wednesday afternoon and children have loved the responsibility of moving around the school safely. They are very supportive of each other, encouraging and supporting each other to use the new equipment. We are very excited about our climbing skills and mastering the big slide. In a couple of weeks we will be joining the whole school for morning tea play together! Children are very excited about catching up with older family members and friends.
We have been talking about ‘our community’ and things we like to do and see in our community. Children have shared some of their adventures during the holidays. We are enjoying the home corner that has been set up this term. Children have taken this interest outside and have been very creative building and modifying their own structures out in the playground. The sand pit continues to be a hit, and children have enjoyed working together to design and build their own sandpit city – complete with shops, school, library, lake and forest. Activities outside are constantly changing depending on our imagination – campsites, potions, habitats for slaters and millipedes or water production lines in full swing. Our kitchen proves to continue to be popular – especially with spring blossoms adding an extra touch to our cake decorating skills.
We have been exploring numbers and counting out collections. We recently enjoyed reading Room on the Broom, counting out twigs to make our own mini broomsticks. It was lovely to see children then decide to take on the challenge of squeezing as many people onto the broom as possible in their outside play! We are looking forward to a fun action packed term ahead.
MOLESWORTH PRIMARY SCHOOL NURSE
My name is Chloe and I am the new school nurse at Molesworth Primary School. I will be working every second Thursday and look forward to meeting everyone. I am new to school nursing and my priorities for this term are meeting as many staff, students and families as possible and learning and understanding how schools operate. I have come from working on the Children and Adolescent unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital. When I’m not at work, I enjoy playing netball and spending time with my dogs.
School nurses work quite differently to what is often expected – we aren’t taking over first aid responsibilities and we won’t be providing clinical care. We work under a primary health care framework and I will spend much of my time completing kindergarten health assessments, targeted vision and hearing assessments and working with students to try to maintain well-being and prevent illness from occurring.
If you would like to speak with me, I can be contacted through the school office. If I am unable to help you with your query, I will likely be able to refer you to someone who can. I look forward to meeting you all, and becoming part of the school community.
