FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH
Another busy past 2 weeks at school with lots of fantastic learning happening across the school. We saw our athletics carnival take place last Thursday with 52 students off to the interschool carnival on Friday. Good luck to all of them, I know they will do Molesworth proud.
The next 2 weeks are going to be extra busy with the final touches happening in the new building. We take over occupancy on the 19th March and during the last 2 weeks of the term all classes will be moved in to their rest of the year rooms. It is going to be a very exciting time for all the students as they are introduced to their new learning spaces.
Today we see the MEC having new carpeting going down and we are currently in talks with The Mens Shed to make new table tops for the display tables. Next time your class head off on a MEC excursion they will also see the new platform for getting on and off the ropes bridge without having to jump down.
Once everyone is settled in to their new spaces we will then be looking at the development of the front of the school and the turning circle area to put in new pathways to support the safe movement of all to and from cars and around this space. A reminder to please not pull in to the turning circle before the bus in the afternoon and if the turning circle is full keep driving to the oval to turn around and wait as we cannot have cars stopped on the road waiting to turn in. This is for everyone’s safety.
After a no start on Tuesday, Thursday saw the weather being much more favourable for our MPS Athletics Carnival. Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who made the day the success that it was. We are very pleased to have 52 students who are heading off to the SPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival this Friday and we wish them all the best of luck. Thank you to Ms Jodie Goggins for capturing the wonderful moments you see below.

WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF KINDER!
Kinder Superstars have been very busy settling into school life at Molesworth Primary. Children have enjoyed making new friends, and developing their own identities. The success of how quickly children have settled is a credit to all children and their families. It is exciting to see children bouncing in the door of a morning, ready to explore classroom activities - happy to start the day and say their farewells to family.
Children have begun to develop friendships with others. Learning the names of their classmates and using them during class discussion times is a major accomplishment. Sharing and taking turns is also a huge step for our kinder children and it is wonderful to see children developing these skills daily.
Kinder Superstars have especially enjoyed exploring our playground. Digging, cooking, bike riding and building are some of our favourite activities. It is a delight to see the children hard at work outside and the innovative way they are using their play space. I am constantly in admiration at how creative and innovative our children are!
Kinder life is always very busy with children learning through doing. It is through play we learn and reinforce new skills. It is through play we develop a sense of who we are. Our days are filled with fun and are action packed. Our learning is endless. No wonder our children arrive home exhausted!
Inhale, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, exhale and stretch! Over the last two weeks we have been focusing on moving out bodies in different ways, with an attention to relaxing, flexibility, focus and concentration.
We were visited by Mrs Kathryn Gilbert, who many of our students remembered as a previous teacher here at Molesworth. Mrs Gilbert is a trained yoga instructor and shared her great yoga knowledge with us! We have learnt many shapes/postures and what areas of the body are at work; butterfly, in-between rest, deer, windscreen wipers, sitting at dinner table, seal, dragon fly, bridge, lion, banana, cobra, tabletop, dragon, happy baby, sphinx, cat and cow. You will have to ask our students if they can show you a shape. We also learned not to move too fast between movements, to focus our breathing and how to focus on moving our body into shapes.
Thank you Mrs Gilbert for coming and teaching us yoga, namaste!
In Prep-1J we have begun the new school year by reconnecting with our friends and making new friends. We are identifying the skills we need to work together as teammates and how to be respectful learners. We have talked about shared interests and goals including what we want to be. There are many future hairdressers, firefighters and police officers in our class!
School Photos this year will be taken on THURSDAY 22 APRIL. Envelopes will be sent home shortly. Every child must bring their own photo envelope back to school, even if payment is included in any siblings envelope. Please DO NOT place envelopes inside one another. Photos are taken on a pre-paid basis. Please put CORRECT money in the photo envelope as no change can be given by the photographer or school. Please note - cash and cheque, VISA and Mastercard are accepted.
