FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH
We have had a great start to Term 4. It is really nice to see the sun more often and the oval looking lovely and green for the children to play on. Over the holidays the extra soft fall was added around all the equipment so we now have all our playground open again. Miss Gourlay has put the football posts up and the students are enjoying games of both football and basketball.
During the break the contractors were very busy while there were no students and the underground pipe system for our fire service has gone in through the staff carpark and across the front of the school. This week they are finishing off the connection across the top of the school to a new hydrant which will be placed outside our fence near where the shipping container currently is. Yesterday a crane came on site and all the timber and steel for the structure arrived, we will see the frame of the building appear over the coming days. After all the work that has gone in to the ground work it is exciting to see it starting to take shape. Last night I shared with School Association the artwork which is part of the redevelopment. We will be meeting the artist next week and that will be ready at the same time as the building, the design is attached, and it will definitely add beauty to the entrance to the school.
The next 8 weeks are going to be a very busy time for all. Below are listed significant dates to mark in your diary.
Thursday 5th November: Outdoor Classroom Day This year we will be taking part in this national day. All classes will spend the morning learning outside. The children will be put into groups and get to experience 2 different activities. Unfortunately, due to the continued guidelines we will not be able to open this day up to parents. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Schoolzine as we will share all the experiences through these.
Monday 9th – Friday 13th November – Week 5: Keep an eye out for our next virtual assembly, a group of Grade 6 volunteers are busy organising the sharing of this. There is so much amazing learning happening in all classes its tough to decide just what to share.
Wednesday 18th November – Wednesday 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm: Empowering Kids, Raising Children to Thrive. Parent Session with Lisa Ford, Clinical Psychologist. Lisa Ford has worked with children, families and schools for over 17 years. We were very lucky to book Lisa for this session. I cannot recommend her highly enough, please mark this date in your dairy and contact the school to book a seat. (Flyer attached)
Thursday 26th November – Prep to 2 Athletics Carnival: Due to our restrictions with numbers we have decided to keep our athletics carnival to just Prep to 2. The Grade 3 – 6 had their trials/carnival in Term 1. Parents of Prep to 2 students are welcome to attend. For this day we will need to book in all attending so please contact the office for this. The COVID tracing forms will need to be filled out and we will have seating areas organised. You are welcome to bring along your own seats and we will have areas for them to go making sure we adhere to the 1.5 m distancing requirements. The carnival will run from 8:50 am to 10:50 am so you will be able to set up when you drop your children to school. Miss Gourlay will share information about the day via the newsletter.
Friday 27th November – Swimming Trials/Carnival – Grades 3-6: As we had to cancel our last date we have now rescheduled the carnival for this date. For all who were to attend the previous day a new note will be going home to sign and return and a part of that asks for number of parents attending.
Thursday 10th December – Grade 6 Big day out.
Monday 14th December – Grade 6 Colins Cap Walk.
Wednesday 16th December – End of Year Assembly. As we are not able to hold our assembly in the hall space due to capacity restrictions we are going to hold an outdoor assembly on the oval (lets all hope for a lovely day) During this assembly all classes will share a performance and the grade 6 awards and certificates will be presented. All families are welcome to attend. You can bring along a picnic blanket or chairs and we will have areas designated for these making sure we follow the current guidelines. There will be more details in following newsletters.
Last Day – Thursday 17th December – Class specific details about this day will be shared as the term progresses. The grade 6 class will hold a special morning tea where the grade 6 parents will be invited to watch the slide show of their children’s years at Molesworth Primary.

YEAR 4-5 TERM 4 GRATITUDE JOURNALS
In our final term of the year we have started individual “Gratitude Journals”
What Is Gratitude?
Gratitude is one of many positive emotions. It's about focusing on what's good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have. Gratitude is about pausing to notice and appreciate the things that we often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, clean water, friends, family, even computer access. It's taking a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are when something good happens — whether it's a small thing or a big thing.
We can use lots of words to describe feelings of gratitude: We might say we feel thankful, lucky, fortunate, humbled, or blessed.
Why Gratitude Matters:
Gratitude doesn't just feel good. Making a habit of practising gratitude can also be good for us. Like other positive emotions, feeling grateful on a regular basis can have a big positive effect on our lives.
Here are some journal entries…..
“I am grateful for living in Tasmania.” - (Dante)
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that I have been given to play sports and other extracurricular activities with my friends in and outside of school.” - (Hamish)
“You know how we feel happy when we’re kind to someone or make them smile? You get that same feeling when we show gratitude.” - (Alexia)
“I’m grateful for two great parents who care about the environment, are funny, nice, caring, kind and loving.” - (Finn)
“I’m grateful for my school, my amazing friends and teachers.” - (Nash)
“I’m grateful for the compassion shown to others during Covid 19.” - (Conor)
“I’m grateful for being able to have big dreams.” - (Gabe)
“I’m grateful for my Nan for being there for me and never giving up.” - (Kyeshia)
“I am grateful for what mum and dad have done for me.” - (Cody)
“When I’m grateful I feel happy, excited and surprised.” - (Ruby C)
“I am grateful for having a roof over my head.” - (Meghan)
“I am grateful for my family, my friends and my teachers.” - (Stephanie)
“I am grateful that mum can take me to sport.” - (Darcy)
“If everyone showed a little bit of gratitude every day then it would make everyone feel better and have a positive effect on the world.” - (Ruby R)
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING IN MUSIC WITH MR HAY
Hello everyone!
We're back into Music in term 4 already and grades 3 to 6 are having fun with our new ukuleles! They are very versatile little instruments that are great to use alongside our xylophones and to sing with. The Preps right through to grade sixes are singing, playing, moving and grooving each Monday as we use our teamwork and listening skills to make music together. It has been great fun to see all students develop their musical skills to achieve more and more each week. Where else can you use your hands, body, brain and voice together all at the same time in such an enjoyable way!
Bravo Molesworth Musicians!
Beginning Term 4 with ‘Book Week’ has reminded us that reading can take us on such fascinating, powerful and mysterious adventures without even leaving our classroom. 2/3 have been discussing how books can often provoke wonders and questions about characters, their actions and feelings.
This year’s theme ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds!’ inspired us to appreciate what makes us curious. Here are some of the curiosities we captured using watercolour and a photo of ourselves deep in thought.
We will continue being wild about reading and feed our curiosity with books.
- The Museum makes me curious because you don’t know what’s inside. – Ryder

- I wonder what the weather will be like tomorrow. – Maia
- Why can’t some birds fly? – Holly
- How does lightening occur? – Jack R

- I’m curious about why penguins sit on their eggs. – Axton
- I wonder how many stars are in the galaxy – Bailee
- I wonder what my Mum will say? Alex W
- I’m curious how many deer are left in the world? – Jack S
- Fingerprints makes me curious because they have so many lines and waves. – Amber
- I am curious about how and who invented the world? – Charlotte
- Racing makes me curious because I wonder who will win. – Braiden
- Why are snakes and lizards called reptiles? – Ashley
- I wonder if water is heavier than milk? – Seth
- I wonder how to drive a car? – Mitchell
- Cats make me curious because I wonder why they are so shy? – Haley
- How is wind created? Freya
