As we head toward the second half of term 4 we are beginning to plan for the 2025 school year, looking at staffing and class structures. In a school our size each student number impacts our staffing allocation which then impacts what classes we can offer next year. If you or someone you know are changing their plans for 2025 and may not be here or are moving into the area please contact the School Office so we make sure we do the very best we can for the benefits of all students here.
Once we have class structures finalised we then start looking at student placement which takes into consideration teacher judgement and observations about:
- The needs of the child (educational, social, emotional and behavioural)
- The balance of student abilities within the class
We value the support of our parent community and give you the opportunity to provide information in writing which you believe the school needs to know that will help in placing your child for 2025. Please email or send a letter to myself of your request by Friday 22nd November. The information given will be kept confidential.
If you would like to have a conversation about this I am very happy to meet to chat. Please check with the School Office to make a time or I am always out and about before school each day.
Regards,
Mrs Leanne Smith
Principal
Next Friday 15th November from 11:00 am - 12.30 pm, we will be hosting our first ever Jump Rope for Heart Day fundraiser! We are asking students to wear red, in addition to their school polo tops. For example socks, bucket hats, pants. In addition a donation for the Heart Foundation would be appreciated, but not compulsary.
We will start our day with a welcome from our fantastic sport leaders and hear about the Heart Foundation and what our donations would go towards. Classes will then rotate through 5 different skipping stations, putting their skills to the test and challenging them with different activities all the while having fun and working with their classmates.
Our parents and school community are more than welcome to come along to join us in our skipping celebrations!
Another fantastic day with families sharing wonderful outdoor activities with their children. Thanks to all the families who were able to drop in during the morning.
Yesterday we had a visit from 4 Cricket Tasmania Hurricane Helpers who delivered their Hurricanes Blast program with our students. What a great way to finish our Outdoor Classroom Day!
Molesworth Cricket Club are offering an afterschool program on our oval! Please see flyer attached.
The FLL Hobart Regional Tournament is on this Saturday the 9th November 2024 at Sacred Heart College, New Town. Good luck to all the students competing this weekend.
On Monday 28th October, we had a visit from two Tasmanian Life Savers, Morgan and Alice. They visited our Year P/1 and 1/2 classes with their Beach to Bush Program.
The Beach to Bush Program is the most impactful educational initiative of Surf Life Saving and has been delivered to schools for over 25 years. The program consists of a safety presentation delivered by lifeguards around the state. It aims to educate young people about safety at the beach and in other aquatic environments - pools, rivers, dams and lakes.

REGIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Our Grade 5-6 boys played exceptionally well and improved all weekend on their teamwork, confidence and skills on the court
Two former Molesworth students Jack coached and and Amber umpired along with Deakon NNBBA. Mr Hepburn popped in to support our team on both days to watch a game and we would like to thank him for his support and organisation and ensuring the team were updated on any game changes.
Thank you to all the parents that cheered and supported the boys on as well as scored on the sidelines.
It was a fantastic weekend and the boys should be proud of their efforts.
The Bridge Art Prize is an initiative of the Derwent Valley Arts and McConnell Dowell to illustrate the connection between place and people of the new Bridgewater Bridge.
The prize pool exceeds $36,000 and has a main acquisitive prize of $25,000 and is open to entries across Tasmania. It encourages Tasmanians to explore their relationship with The Bridge directly or indirectly by using a range of media including photography, painting, printmaking, graffiti, poetry, videography, animation, music, ceramic, textiles, and sculpture.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our students and there are prizes awarded for junior entrants. Entries close on the 17th of January, 2025 and the exhibition is from the 5th to the 27th of April, 2025.
